Required Setup
Your Forget About IT™ server must be mail enabled, then you will need the following settings in order to configure your email client.
Required Settings
- Your Server Name
- remote.<your domain name> (or mail.<your domain name>)
- Your Server Type
- IMAP for incoming (or to be pedantic IMAP4)
- SMTP for outgoing
- Your Account Username/ID
- This is usually the same name as you use to log in to your computer in the morning, or to log into webmail.
- Your Password
- Hopefully you will already know this, as we cannot find out what your password is as it stored as an encrypted form.

Mail on IPhone/IPad (iOS)
Recommended security setting for encryption
- IMAP set to use SSL on port 993
- SMTP to use SSL on port 587
Basic Setup
Following this guide you shall be able to configure your mail account on IPhone:
- Go to Settings > Mail
- Tap Accounts
- Tap Add Account
- Tap Other
- Tap Add Mail Account
- Enter your account details
- Select IMAP
- Enter your server settings
- NOTE: Although the password entry for the outgoing mail settings usually says "Optional", it isn't. You will need to enter your username and password.
- Save the account
- Tap the account you added
- Tap your account again
- Tap Advanced
- Check Mailbox behaviours
- NOTE: For Sent Mailbox, make sure to select the Sent folder located under the On the server section

- Select Drafts Mailbox > On the Server > Drafts. Return to the Advanced view.
- Select Sent Mailbox > On the Server > Sent. Return to the Advanced view.
- Select Deleted Mailbox > On the Server > Trash. Return to the Advanced view.

- Select the Mail menu and click Preferences
- Select Accounts section and click + to add account
- Enter your Full Name, Email Address and Password then click Continue
- Set the Account Type as IMAP.
- Set Description to anything that will allow you to identify your account.
- The Incoming Mail Server should be set to your email server (e.g remote.yourdomain.com) please refer to your network administrator for more info.
- Enter your mailbox credentials (Username and Password) and click Continue
- Tick the box Use Secure Sockets Layer. Set Authentication to Password then click Continue
- Enter the Description for your Outgoing Mail Server, it does not matter what this is set to.
- The Outgoing Mail Server should be set to your email server (e.g remote.yourdomain.com) please refer to your network administrator for more info.
- Tick Use Authentication and enter your mailbox credentials (Username and Password) and then click Continue
- Select Take account online then click Create

Adding an Email Account
- Click on Tools menu and choose "Account Settings" toward the end of list.
- Click on the Account Actions button in the bottom left of the new windows that appears and choose "Add Mail Account".
- Type in your full name in the first box, your email address in the second box, and the password for that email account in the third box.
- You leave the Remember Password box ticked if you want Thunderbird to remember your password. You may not want this if the computer is used by other people.
- Then click on Continue and Thunderbird will then take a few moment to detect the correct settings, which should appear as:
- Incoming = IMAP, the name of the email server, followed by STARTTLS
- Outgoing = SMTP, the name of the email server, followed by STARTTLS
- Username = your username for email
- If these setting do not look correct then you can click on "Manual Config" and type in the correct details:
- Incoming = IMAP, the name of the email server, port 143, STARTTLS, Normal password
