My mac wont boot
If an Apple Max OS X based computer does not start, try the following:
Safe Mode
Hold down the shift key during boot. This will enable safe mode which will repair many problems with an Apple Mac. If the computer sucessfully boots, restart normally and see if it works.
Disk Utility
If you have a Mac OS-X disk, insert it into the computer, and start the computer from the DVD by holding down the C key during startup. From the menu select First Aid, and then Disk Utility.
Single User
If you do not have a startup disk, you can try starting the computer in Single User mode by holding down the Apple (Command) and S during startup. Once at the command prompt you may be able to run fsck or (preferred) ´´diskutil verify /´
Verbose
Apple(command) + V during startup will enable verbose mode which might tell you what is going on at the point of failure.. The startup screen looks very similar to a linux/BSD/unix dmesg screen.
